The Fall foliage season is just about over here reaching peak this week in NJ and the temperatures are cooling off a little too quickly for my tastes.

New Jersey is the Garden State.

The market has heated up as the temperatures drop all around the country.

Time is running out for the first time home buyers as well.

News flash the credit has been extended and now is wating to be signed by the president. It is going to be extended but modified a bit. We’ll see in the next few weeks about that.

Business is great and I am excited at the possibilities available for first time home buyers as well as sellers looking to move up.

Historically, interest rates are still at an all time low but are creeping up slowly.

Either moving up or buying for the first time, now is a great time to make the move up to home ownership.

Here’s some important news for Bergen County New Jersey and it’s efforts to go green.

This is an annual event here in the Bergen County that happens in the Fall and the Spring.

This is the not the place to bring all old computers, peripherals. But you can bring batteries, used oil, and other toxic substances that we don’t really want to put into our landfills…

River Vale New Jersey | Living the American Dream!

The community of River Vale, New Jersey in Bergen County consists of a small unassuming town known for it’s Golf Courses and manicured green lawns a plenty. It’s not uncommon to get a glimpse of the beautiful wildlife as seen here on River Vale Road in front of the Edgewood Country Club.

Established in the early 1900’s, the Township of River Vale is rich in History and has remained one of the most unassuming towns in the Pascack Valley region. It’s quiet yet upscale personality boasts three Golf Courses as well as the town center known to many as “The Four Corners” where the two main roads of River Vale Road and Westwood Avenue intersect to provide the town with shops, banks and local food stops. In recent months this section of town has begun to grow with additional areas designated for future shops.

This is the place that I, Lisa, remember growing up. Walking to the town center known as the Four Corners with friends or one of my three sisters, I remember a simpler time when walking to grammar school was what I did. Having grown up on the South side of River Vale, I walked to Roberge School which covers grades K-5. Children on the North end of town attend Woodside. All meet at Holdrum School for grades 6-8 and then move up to Pascack Valley High School to join the children from the town of Hillsdale. Of course this was where I first met my husband, Bob!

This beautiful town of River Vale has undergone some changes in the form of updates to the town center as well as the River Vale Public Library. The town celebrated it’s 100 year River Vale Centennial in a year long celebration a few years ago.

In our current Real Estate market as of this blog on 5/3/09, homes in River Vale range from $325,000 priced for the First Time Homebuyer up to $1,599,900 for those seeking new construction.

HammersTeam recently marketed the home below in beautiful Northern River Vale. Proof that price is key in this real estate market, this home had multiple offers and went into contract within the first few days of being on the market. Multiple Offers drove the price up above the asking price of $639,950.

Westwood|New Jersey |The Hub of the Pascack Valley

At the center of the Bergen County area of the Northeast corner of New Jersey, you will find the quintessential Family town of Westwood.  This quaint town is one of the towns that comprises the area named “The Pascack Valley“.  Westwood, named the “Hub” because of it’s location at the center of the County, people coming here from other areas will find a town rich in history and drenched in charm.  Just ten miles North-Northwest of the George Washington Bridge, the Pascack Valley Train line has been a draw for commuters coming to enjoy the tranquillity of suburban life.  The streets of the town are lined with quaint specialty shops and eateries making for a thriving downtown business district.  All is centered around the Train Station and the Park Gazebo where summer concerts and movies can be enjoyed by the public. Around the Holiday Season in December, the town and it’s merchants go all out on decking the halls, making for a Norman Rockwell-like setting to behold. 

On the opposite side of town from the Gazebo where the “Five Corners” of the town center meet stands a small Memorial Park dedicated to the Volunteer Firemen of the town.

Students from K-12 attend the Westwood Regional School district serving both the town of Washington Township as well as Westwood.  There are four K-4 elementary schools and two schools for 5th and 6th graders while grades 7-12 attend the Westwood Regional High School with their mascot named the Westwood Cardinals.

The Pascack Book County Park in Westwood is a wonderful place for families to relax, take a leisurely stroll or feed the ducks.  The Fountain in the Brook makes for a scenic display.

This is the place that I (Lisa) remember growing up. Walking to the town center known as the Four Corners with my best friend, it was a simpler time when walking to grammar school was a hop, skip & a jump. Having grown up on the South side of River Vale, walking to Roberge School (which covers grades K-5) was a few short blocks. Children on the North end of town attend Woodside. It’s A Wonderful Life For This |Pascack Valley Realtor| Couple

It’s A Wonderful Life for this Pascack Valley Realtor® Couple - Last night was the night we chose to muster up that magical feeling called “Christmas Spirit”.  So we popped in my all time favorite Classic Christmas movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life”.  I know what many of you must be thinking about how cliche that is but truthfully I see this movie through different eyes every year.  Maybe it has something to do with the fact that as we grow older, we grow wiser?  Whatever the case may be, this movie seems to echo the way I feel about the people we serve in the Real Estate business. 

This year we saw some very challenging times for many home buyers and sellers.  Some had stories of elation like the young couples who either tied the not or had their first baby.  While others may have had sadness befall their lives.  There are many reasons why people have real estate needs.

Through it all, we were lucky enough to share and be a part of their lives.  And as Clarence Oddbody, Angel Second Class said to George Bailey, “Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives, and when he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he? …You’ve been given a great gift…a chance to see what the world would be like without you….you really had a wonderful life.”

O.K., so if we hadn’t met them, our customers most likely would have found other real estate professionals to assist them.  But the fact that “we” were the people that had that opportunity sure does make this Pascack Valley Realtor® couple feel like it’s a wonderful life.
