It’s A Wonderful Life For This |Pascack Valley Realtor| Couple

It’s A Wonderful Life for this Pascack Valley Realtor® Couple - Last night was the night we chose to muster up that magical feeling called It’s A Wonderful LifeIt’s A Wonderful Life“Christmas Spirit”.  So we popped in my all time favorite Classic Christmas movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life”.  I know what many of you must be thinking about how cliche that is but truthfully I see this movie through different eyes every year.  Maybe it has something to do with the fact that as we grow older, we grow wiser?  Whatever the case may be, this movie seems to echo the way I feel about the people we serve in the Real Estate business.

This year we saw some very challenging times for many home buyers and sellers.  Some had stories of elation like the young couples who either tied the not or had their first baby.  While others may have had sadness befall their lives.  There are many reasons why people have real estate needs.

Through it all, we were lucky enough to share and be a part of their lives.  And as Clarence Oddbody, Angel Second Class said to George Bailey, “Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives, and when he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he? …You’ve been given a great gift…a chance to see what the world would be like without you….you really had a wonderful life.”

It's A Wonderful Life

It's A Wonderful Life

O.K., so if we hadn’t met them, our customers most likely would have found other real estate professionals to assist them.  But the fact that “we” were the people that had that opportunity sure does make this Pascack Valley Realtor® couple feel like it’s a wonderful life.

We take great pleasure in serving the residents of the Pascack Valley and surrounding Bergen County area when marketing their homes.  As in the movie, we both grew up in the Pascack Valley and to us this area we service feels like a Bedford Falls community.

We also are thrilled to meet Buyers and help them realize their dreams of home ownership.  Servicing the public through the joys of real estate makes us feel like we’ve had the great opportunity to touch other’s lives.

The fact remains that George Bailey’s Angel was right – each man’s life touches many other’s lives and we’re here to say.

Hillsdale New Jersey History

Welcome To Hillsdale New Jersey

Welcome To Hillsdale New Jersey

Hillsdale New Jersey History – The October 13, 2008 edition of the local Pascack Valley’s Hometown Newspaper The Pascack Press,  talked about the October 7th meeting of the mayor and council where the landmark Hillsdale Police booth received a plaque noting it’s historical significance.

The article, written by correspondent Sonia Kinzler,   went on to talk about the country’s hard times and how the town of Hillsdale is doing it’s part to keep the local food pantry stocked with donations from residents.

According to the president of Hillsdale’s Historic Preservation Committee, Beverly Rosenstein, the longtime residents might remember when the Traffic Booth was located in the middle of the intersection of Hillsdale Avenue and Broadway, as pictured below in the picture on the righthand side.

Old Postcard of Old Downtown Hillsdale

Old Postcard of Old Downtown Hillsdale

Having grown up in the town of Hillsdale, my husband Bob remembers a time when his father John recalled his father Sebastian Hammerstein was a local builder.  Hammerstein Family lore rumored that there was some possibility that grandfather Sebastian Hammerstein may have been involved in the design of the Traffic Booth.  The historic plaque being dedicated to the Hillsdale Traffic Booth honors the name John Oley, with whom the Hammersteins were friendly.

Ms. Rosenstein’s mention was recalled by both my husband and I as we remember when the Hillsdale Traffic Booth was moved.  Time fades many a memory but it’s still a great feeling to drive through the town of Hillsdale and see the icon poised proudly in the town center.
